Shesterkin is having a record breaking goaltending season.

Matthews is having a record setting goal scoring season.

Gaudreau is having a dime a (superstar) dozen season. How is he above Mcdavid, Huberdeau, Draistl, or standing out differently? Josi is putting all time great season together, and should be above Gaudreau.

My vote is still Mcdavid, but if forces to choose from those three, I’m going Shesterkin just because of how good the underlying stats are. Mathews is wonderful, but has some pretty great running mates helping him out.

It's criminal that Josi isn't in any of these conversations. If he was doing what he's been doing for a team people cared about, we'd be hearing about him daily. He's neck and neck with Gaudreau, but they're both behind Matthews.

Goalies shouldn't win the Hart.

Here is the actual list:

Shesterkin
McDavid
Matthews
Josi
Huberdeau
Gaudreau
Sid
Makar
Kaprizov

Am I missing anyone else who is a contender?

Also, while I think there are other more deserving players in terms of individual stats, if you want to talk about a player truly dragging a team along to new heights, and truly being his teams Most Valuable Player, I’d vote for Kaprizov every single day.

Take Matthews, Shesterkin, Gaudreau out of the lineup and their teams LIKELY still make the playoffs. Take Kaprizov out and they are shooting for the lottery.

The Flames are not a playoff team if Gaudreau isn't playing. Tkachuk and Lindholm are having great seasons because of Gaudreau.

There's no one better in the league at getting the puck to an open player in a dangerous spot.

Mattews, Shesterkin, and Gaudreau....

Pretty edgy to leave out McDavid. Also, who is Mattews?

Deep stuff.

In 2015 when Price won the Hart, Jamie Benn led the league in points with 87.

You could make the argument it was tougher to be a dominant goalie in 2021-22 than it was in 2014-15.

Lot's of players to choose from but Matthews hands down is the MVP.
It will be reflected so when he wins it.

Without Matthews, Leafs would be struggling to make the playoffs and certainly not be considered a contender.

Gaudreau is leading the league in +-. Sutter called him the best checker on the team. I think it was about 15 games in before his line was scored on...When a player is that good defensively and he puts up over 100 points, it's not a stretch to get some mvp consideration.

Matthews will win the Richard and should win the Selke which is a strong argument for the Hart.

IMO, McDavid should win this hands down, however you rarely see repeat winners. We know damn well the Oilers would be bottom feeders without him. Draisaitl is great, but couldn't carry the Oilers team on his own. The Leaf's without Matthews is still at the very least 6-10th in the east (without him they might actually have cap space to shore up the defensive shortcomings). Because of this, I'm sure they will give it to Matthew this year. He has had an amazing year.

Only the Toronto Media calls the Leafs a contender. They aren't. They will be very lucky to win a series. Until this management group recognizes the folly of 50% of their payroll spent on 4 forwards, they will never have the depth throughout the rest of the lineup to compete in the playoffs, never mind thorough 4 rounds of it.

The last 100 point defenseman was Brian Leetch in 1992-1992. The Hart trophy winner is obviously Josi.

Hmmm.....you may have a point.....on the top of your head!

Canucks fan disagrees that Matthews is MVP and that Toronto is a contender. No biases there at all! LMFAO!!
